We purchased our VW California Ocean T6.1 4motion camper van in October 2021.

 

We could have gone for something cheaper and bigger with bathroom facilities, but ultimately decided we wanted the flexibility of movement a small van offered. We chose the Ocean because it had the specification we wanted and went for a VW OEM van because they held there value better.

We did do some upgrades though, to make it more more usable for longer periods and for more of the year:

 

I fitted a 100w solar panel from solarcampersolutions.co.uk to give us flexibility on where we stayed when we travelled (less dependant on electrical hook-up). 

​

A set of Michelin CrossClimate 2 235/55 R17 Y (103) tyres. These were mainly purchased as we intend to travel throughout the year and need tyres suitable for mud and snow.

 A pull out rear tray - to help with loading and unloading.

​

A Brandrup fly-net for the side door and passenger side window - to keep the bugs out.

​

An internal Brandrup Isotop to keep us warmer in colder weather and cooler in hot weather.

​

A Comfortz wet room for the side awning to give us additonal undercover space when we are camping for longer periods.
